Ten bucks locks in your prediction. There's no payout and no prize — every dollar goes straight to diabetes research, same as everything else here. What you get is your name in the post-race recap under either CALLED IT or WRONG, permanently, where your friends can see it.

The form guide

I'm not hiding the numbers. Here's what my long runs actually look like:

• Longest run so far: 9.1 miles
• Long-run pace, walk breaks included: 16:16–16:37 per mile
• Method: 4:1 run-walk, the whole way, no apologies
• Which projects to roughly 3:30 — if nothing goes wrong

Something always goes wrong.

Make your call

• Under 3:10 — True Believer. You think I have a gear I haven't shown anybody.
• 3:10–3:25. You're betting on race-day adrenaline.
• 3:25–3:40. The sensible money. This is what the math says.
• 3:40–3:55. You've seen mile 11 do things to people.
• Over 3:55 — Realist. Rude. Possibly correct.
• DNF — Traitor. Costs double. Betting against a diabetic man with two rebuilt knees should cost you something.

Calls close November 13. Official time is whatever the race clock says — gun to finish, walk breaks and all. No appeals, no stewards' inquiry.

Buy more than one call if you want to hedge. I'm not going to stop you, and neither is the research.
